If you test positive, you will receive this text from the Illinois Department of Public Health:

It is a legitimate text, not a scam. You may call the number and speak with a contact tracer at the State’s contact tracing center if you would like. The State’s CT center is now handling the majority of cases. The link provided in the text will take you to the guidance that you need to follow.

If you would like to be vaccinated please contact us. We will do our best to work with your schedule and get you vaccinated. We have all three vaccines available — Moderna, Pfizer, and Johnson & Johnson. You can call us at 217-532-2001 or email us at mchdpublichealth@gmail.com.

We hold COVID-19 vaccination clinics every Monday and Thursday at our Hillsboro office, located at 11191 Illinois Route 185. Clinic hours are 8:30 am to 3:30 pm. These are walk-in clinics, but if curbside service is needed it is available. Just call the Health Department when you arrive and say that you are there for a shot and you would like to stay in your vehicle. For any questions please call the Health Department Monday through Friday, 8am to 4pm, at 217-532-2001.

Pre-registration is NOT required at these clinics and all three vaccines are available, Moderna, Pfizer, and Johnson & Johnson. Bring your insurance card if you have one. If you don’t, it’s no problem.

Note: These numbers reflect all State approved tests and any known private laboratory testing.

Booster dose eligibility:

  • Pfizer boosters – 5 months after receiving the second dose.
  • Moderna – 5 months after second dose.
  • J&J – 2 months after second dose. (mRNA vaccines, Pfizer & Moderna, are recommended as a booster dose for those who received J&J for their primary dose.)

COVID-19 vaccination for 5-11 year olds has been approved.

As you may be aware, Pfizer has received FDA approval for use of its COVID-19 vaccine in individuals between the ages of 5 and 11. If you have a child in that age range and would like to have them vaccinated, you can get their name on our list one of two ways. You can call our office at 217-532-2001, Monday through Friday, between the hours of 8 am and 4 pm., or you can email us your child’s name, date of birth, and the town they live in, to mchdpublichealth@gmail.com.

Vaccination update as of 4/25/21:

This week we continued administering first and second doses to those in 1A, 1B, and 1B+. We also continued with first doses for individuals outside of those phases. All of our clinics are still by appointment only, with the exception of the one we had technical issues with.

We held two clinics this week. One on Wednesday, 4/21, at the Witt Lions Club for first and second doses, and one yesterday 4/24, for both first and second doses. There were many unfilled first dose spots at both of those clinics.

If you are reading this, please help spread the word that we are able to vaccinate anyone now. We have plenty of vaccine. We just need those wishing to be vaccinated to get signed up to come to a clinic.

We need/want to increase Montgomery County’s vaccinated numbers. We are still in a fight against COVID-19 even though some of our normal has returned. Vaccination is key to maintaining the ground we have gained against the virus.

If you would like to receive the Pfizer or Johnson & Johnson vaccine, please keep a close eye on our webpage and/or Facebook page. We do not receive those vaccines very often and when we do it is in much smaller quantities. So the clinics may fill up quickly.

If you would like to receive the COVID-19 vaccine and need help with online registration, please call 217-532-2001 Monday through Friday between the hours of 8:00 am to 4:00 pm, or email your name, age, phone number, and what town you live in to mchdpublichealth@gmail.com, to have you name added to the list. Once your name is on the list, someone from MCHD will call you when a clinic opens for registration. Please be patient if calling, as call volumes are high

WE ARE TRANSITIONING AWAY FROM THE CALL LIST. We still have some people left on the list and plan to contact them for clinics, but moving forward, we will be referring people to online clinic registration. We are still able to provide registration assistance to those who need it. Those needing help with registering for a vaccine clinic should contact our office at 217-532-2001 and select zero for the operator.

A big THANK YOU to all of the volunteers who worked with our staff at this week’s clinics and those who have worked with us at prior clinics! And to the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Department, Illinois State Police, local law enforcement, and everyone who has helped with traffic assistance at our drive-thru clinics. We appreciate all of you so much! A big THANK YOU also to the following for allowing us to hold clinics at their facilities: Witt Lions Club, Hillsboro Free Methodist Church, Raymond Knights of Columbus, Litchfield Community Center, the Montgomery County Highway Department, and the Skyview Drive-In.

SECOND DOSES: When it’s time for an individual’s second dose* they can expect to receive an email, text, or call from our office a day or two before their due date reminding them of the need to schedule an appointment. Location and appointment time will be confirmed at that time. *The second dose date for Moderna is 28 days from the first dose. The second dose date for Pfizer is 21 days.

REMINDER: The CDC says that even after a person is vaccinated, “It’s important for everyone to continue using all the tools available to help stop this pandemic as we learn more about how COVID-19 vaccines work in real-world conditions. Cover your mouth and nose with a mask when around others, stay at least 6 feet away from others, avoid crowds, avoid poorly ventilated spaces, and wash your hands often.”​​

Free rapid testing will continue through June 2021
Montgomery County Health Department will continue to offer free COVID-19 rapid testing through Litchfield Family Practice Center, located at 1285 Franciscan Drive, Litchfield, IL 62056 during the months of May and June. The antigen tests are available on Saturdays from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm, or until 40 tests have been completed, whichever comes first. Testing is done either in a drive-thru format or walk-in clinic, dependent upon the weather, and is first come, first served. Please note that 3:00 pm is the cutoff for swabbing. Anyone still in line at 3:00 pm will not be served. Please do not block any entrances or exits when lining up. Those testing will be notified of their results the same day. Be aware: A negative rapid test does not qualify a person for a shortened quarantine period under the new CDC guidelines. We encourage those who attend parties or who attend any other type of gathering to get tested. A person does not have to be symptomatic to spread the virus. Testing can help stop the spread. Our weekend testing clinics may be used for this purpose.
