Medical Reserve Corps
Why join the Medical Reserve Corps?
- Disaster will affect us all.
- With training, you can better assist your family, friends and community.
- All volunteers are needed- you do not have to be a medical professional to join.
- If a disaster strikes, we cannot depend on state and federal resources. Our communities will have to fend for themselves initially. You can be a local resource.

Disaster Preparedness
Disasters can happen suddenly and can be of many types- natural disasters including ice storms, tornadoes, floods and heat, bio-terrorism, and chemical disasters.
Preparedness is everyone’s job. Not just government agencies, but all sectors of society — service providers, businesses, civic and volunteer groups, industry associations and neighborhood associations, as well as every individual citizen — should plan ahead for disaster. During the first few hours or days following a disaster, essential services may not be available. People must be ready to act on their own.
