Emergency Preparedness

Medical Reserve Corps

Why join the Medical Reserve Corps?

  1. Disaster will affect us all.
  2. With training, you can better assist your family, friends and community.
  3. All volunteers are needed- you do not have to be a medical professional to join.
  4. If a disaster strikes, we cannot depend on state and federal resources. Our communities will have to fend for themselves initially. You can be a local resource.

Disaster Preparedness

Disasters can happen suddenly and can be of many types- natural disasters including ice storms, tornadoes, floods and heat, bio-terrorism, and chemical disasters.

Preparedness is everyone’s job. Not just government agencies, but all sectors of society — service providers, businesses, civic and volunteer groups, industry associations and neighborhood associations, as well as every individual citizen — should plan ahead for disaster. During the first few hours or days following a disaster, essential services may not be available. People must be ready to act on their own.
